Psalm 50:13-15

"Do you think I feast on venison? or drink draughts of goats' blood? Spread for me a banquet of praise, serve High God a feast of kept promises, and call for help when you're in trouble - I'll help you, and you'll honor me."

Psalm 51:16 says, "Going through the motions doesn't please you, a flawless performance is nothing to you."

God is pleased when we truly believe that He exists and that He will help us. He doesn't want us to simply obey the rules. Although this is important, even non-Christians can do that. God also knows that we are sinners, which is why He sent Jesus to die on the cross to save us from our sins. He knows we can't give Him a perfect performance even if we do want to. What God really wants is our hearts. He wants praise, kept promises, and prayers. He also wants us to obey Him because we believe in Him, not just to keep up appearances.
