Psalm 121

"I look up to the mountains; does my strength come from mountains? No, my strength comes from God, who made heaven, and earth, and mountains.

He won't let you stumble, your Guardian God won't fall asleep. Not on your life! Israel's Guardian will never doze or sleep.

God's your Guardian, right at your side to protect you-shielding you from sunstroke, sheltering you from moonstroke.

God guards you from every evil, He guards your very life. He guards you when you leave and when you return, He guards you now, He guards you always."

Sometimes I think God has forgotten about me. Then I read this chapter and I am reminded that God is always guarding me and He never sleeps on the job. I also think about Job and Joseph who both had reason to think God had forgotten about them, but they kept on believing. Job lost all of his children and his belongings and became very sick for several years. Joseph's brothers sold him into slavery in Egypt, where he was wrongly accused of trying to sleep with his master's wife and imprisoned. Because of their faith during hard times, Job became the wealthiest man in the world and had more children, and Joseph became Pharaoh's 2nd in command.
