"In providing meals and a bed, we become their companions in spreading the truth." This was written to encourage people in Bible times to open their homes to preachers who were traveling to spread the Gospel. Not everyone has the gift of preaching, but everyone can be hospitable. By finding ways to help those who spread the Gospel, we are also helping spread the truth.
I am a very shy person and I sometimes worry that I would be too afraid to tell other people about Jesus. While this verse doesn't let me off the hook, it does show me that God made me the way I am for a reason. There is nothing wrong with me. I am gifted to help people rather than preach to them. This doesn't mean that if I am in a one-on-one or small group setting with someone that I don't have to tell them about Jesus, though.
