We have sufferings now, but these are nothing compared to the great glory that will be given to us.
Romans 8:18 ERV
https://bible.com/bible/406/rom.8.18.ERV
“Yes, I am sure that nothing can separate us from God’s love—not death, life, angels, or ruling spirits. I am sure that nothing now, nothing in the future, no powers, nothing above us or nothing below us—nothing in the whole created world—will ever be able to separate us from the love God has shown us in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:38-39 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.38-39.erv
“Can anything separate us from Christ’s love? Can trouble or problems or persecution separate us from his love? If we have no food or clothes or face danger or even death, will that separate us from his love?
But in all these troubles we have complete victory through God, who has shown his love for us.”
Romans 8:35, 37 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.35,37.erv
“So what should we say about this? If God is for us, no one can stand against us. And God is with us.
He even let his own Son suffer for us. God gave his Son for all of us. So now with Jesus, God will surely give us all things.
Who can accuse the people God has chosen? No one! God is the one who makes them right.
Who can say that God’s people are guilty? No one! Christ Jesus died for us, but that is not all. He was also raised from death. And now he is at God’s right side, speaking to him for us.”
Romans 8:31-34 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.31-34.erv
“And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirits and makes us sure that we are God’s children.
If we are God’s children, we will get the blessings God has for his people.
He will give us all that he has given Christ. But we must suffer like Christ suffered. Then we will be able to share his glory.”
Romans 8:16-17 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.16-17.erv
“The true children of God are those who let God’s Spirit lead them.
The Spirit that we received is not a spirit that makes us slaves again and causes us to fear.
The Spirit that we have makes us God’s chosen children.
And with that Spirit we cry out, “ Abba, Father.”
And the Spirit himself speaks to our spirits and makes us sure that we are God’s children.”
Romans 8:14-16 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.14-16.erv
“So, my brothers and sisters, we must not be ruled by our sinful selves. We must not live the way our sinful selves want.
If you use your lives to do what your sinful selves want, you will die spiritually. But if you use the Spirit’s help to stop doing the wrong things you do with your body, you will have true life.”
Romans 8:12-13 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.12-13.erv
“God raised Jesus from death. And if God’s Spirit lives in you, he will also give life to your bodies that die. Yes, God is the one who raised Christ from death, and he will raise you to life through his Spirit living in you.”
Romans 8:11 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.11.erv
“People who live following their sinful selves think only about what they want. But those who live following the Spirit are thinking about what the Spirit wants them to do.
If your thinking is controlled by your sinful self, there is spiritual death. But if your thinking is controlled by the Spirit, there is life and peace.
Why is this true? Because anyone whose thinking is controlled by their sinful self is against God. They refuse to obey God’s law. And really they are not able to obey it. Those who are ruled by their sinful selves cannot please God.
But you are not ruled by your sinful selves. You are ruled by the Spirit, if that Spirit of God really lives in you. But whoever does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to Christ.”
Romans 8:5-9 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.5-9.erv
“The law was without power because it was made weak by our sinful selves. But God did what the law could not do: He sent his own Son to earth with the same human life that everyone else uses for sin.
God sent him to be an offering to pay for sin. So God used a human life to destroy sin. He did this so that we could be right just as the law said we must be. Now we don’t live following our sinful selves. We live following the Spirit.”
Romans 8:3-4 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.3-4.erv
“So now anyone who is in Christ Jesus is not judged guilty.
That is because in Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit that brings life made you free.
It made you free from the law that brings sin and death.”
Romans 8:1-2 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.8.1-2.erv
“So I have learned this rule: When I want to do good, evil is there with me. In my mind I am happy with God’s law. But I see another law working in my body. That law makes war against the law that my mind accepts.
That other law working in my body is the law of sin, and that law makes me its prisoner. What a miserable person I am! Who will save me from this body that brings me death?
I thank God for his salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord! So in my mind I am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful self I am a slave to the law of sin.”
Romans 7:21-25 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.7.21-25.erv
“I don’t do the good that I want to do. I do the evil that I don’t want to do.
So if I do what I don’t want to do, then I am not really the one doing it. It is the sin living in me that does it.”
Romans 7:19-20 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.7.19-20.erv
We know that the law is spiritual, but I am not. I am so human. Sin rules me as if I were its slave.
I don’t understand why I act the way I do. I don’t do the good I want to do, and I do the evil I hate.
And if I don’t want to do what I do, that means I agree that the law is good. But I am not really the one doing the evil. It is sin living in me that does it.
Romans 7:14-17 ERV
https://bible.com/bible/406/rom.7.14-17.ERV
“You might think I am saying that sin and the law are the same. That is not true. But the law was the only way I could learn what sin means.
I would never have known it is wrong to want something that is not mine. But the law said, “You must not want what belongs to someone else.” And sin found a way to use that command and make me want all kinds of things that weren’t mine.
So sin came to me because of the command. But without the law, sin has no power.
Does this mean that something that is good brought death to me? No, it was sin that used the good command to bring me death.
This shows how terrible sin really is. It can use a good command to produce a result that shows sin at its very worst.”
Romans 7:7-8, 13 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.7.7-8,13.erv
“Brothers and sisters, you all understand the Law of Moses. So surely you know that the law rules over people only while they are alive.
In the past the law held us as prisoners, but our old selves died, and we were made free from the law. So now we serve God in a new way, not in the old way, with the written rules. Now we serve God in the new way, with the Spirit.”
Romans 7:1, 6 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.7.1,6.erv
“When people sin, they earn what sin pays—death. But God gives his people a free gift—eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.23.erv
“In the past you were slaves to sin—sin controlled you. But thank God, you fully obeyed what you were taught. You were made free from sin, and now you are slaves to what is right.”
Romans 6:17-18 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.17-18.erv
“Surely you know that you become the slaves of whatever you give yourselves to. Anything or anyone you follow will be your master. You can follow sin, or you can obey God. Following sin brings spiritual death, but obeying God makes you right with him.”
Romans 6:16 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.16.erv
“Don’t offer the parts of your body to serve sin. Don’t use your bodies to do evil, but offer yourselves to God, as people who have died and now live. Offer the parts of your body to God to be used for doing good.”
Romans 6:13 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.13.erv
“In the same way, you should see yourselves as being dead to the power of sin and alive for God through Christ Jesus.
But don’t let sin control your life here on earth. You must not be ruled by the things your sinful self makes you want to do.”
Romans 6:11-12 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.11-12.erv
We know that our old life was put to death on the cross with Christ. This happened so that our sinful selves would have no power over us. Then we would not be slaves to sin. Anyone who has died is made free from sin’s control.”
Romans 6:6-7 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.5-7.erv
“So do you think we should continue sinning so that God will give us more and more grace? Of course not! Our old sinful life ended. It’s dead. So how can we continue living in sin?
So when we were baptized, we were buried with Christ and took part in his death. And just as Christ was raised from death by the wonderful power of the Father, so we can now live a new life.”
Romans 6:1-2, 4 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.6.1-2,4.erv
“The law was brought in so that more people would sin the way Adam did. But where sin increased, there was even more of God’s grace.
Sin once used death to rule us. But God gave us more of his grace so that grace could rule by making us right with him. And this brings us eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Romans 5:20-21 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.5.20-21.erv
“So that one sin of Adam brought the punishment of death to all people. But in the same way, Christ did something so good that it makes all people right with God. And that brings them true life.
One man disobeyed God and many became sinners. But in the same way, one man obeyed God and many will be made right.”
Romans 5:18-19 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.5.18-19.erv
“We have been made right with God by the blood sacrifice of Christ. So through Christ we will surely be saved from God’s anger.
I mean that while we were God’s enemies, he made friends with us through his Son’s death. And the fact that we are now God’s friends makes it even more certain that he will save us through his Son’s life.
And not only will we be saved, but we also rejoice right now in what God has done for us through our Lord Jesus Christ. It is because of Jesus that we are now God’s friends.”
Romans 5:9-11 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.5.9-11.erv
“And we are also happy with the troubles we have. Why are we happy with troubles? Because we know that these troubles make us more patient.
And this patience is proof that we are strong. And this proof gives us hope. And this hope will never disappoint us.
We know this because God has poured out his love to fill our hearts through the Holy Spirit he gave us.”
Romans 5:3-5 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.5.3-5.erv
“We have been made right with God because of our faith. So we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Through our faith, Christ has brought us into that blessing of God’s grace that we now enjoy. And we are very happy because of the hope we have of sharing God’s glory.”
Romans 5:1-2 ERV
https://www.bible.com/406/rom.5.1-2.erv
“Christ died for us when we were unable to help ourselves. We were living against God, but at just the right time Christ died for us.
Very few people will die to save the life of someone else, even if it is for a good person. Someone might be willing to die for an especially good person.
But Christ died for us while we were still sinners, and by this God showed how much he loves us.”
