Then David confessed to Nathan, “I have sinned against the L ord .” Nathan replied, “Yes, but the L ord  has forgiven you, and you won’t die for this sin.  Nevertheless, because you have shown utter contempt for the L ord  by doing this, your child will die.” (2 Samuel 12:13, 14 NLT)

Psalms 25:7

Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth. Remember me in the light of your unfailing love, for you are merciful, O L ord . (Psalms 25:7 NLT)

2 Samuel 7:8-15, 18, 20-22

“Now go and say to my servant David, ‘This is what the L ord  of Heaven’s Armies has declared: I took you from tending sheep in the pasture and selected you to be the leader of my people Israel.  I have been with you wherever you have gone, and I have destroyed all your enemies before your eyes. Now I will make your name as famous as anyone who has ever lived on the earth!  And I will provide a homeland for my people Israel, planting them in a secure place where they will never be disturbed. Evil nations won’t oppress them as they’ve done in the past,  starting from the time I appointed judges to rule my people Israel. And I will give you rest from all your enemies. “‘Furthermore, the L ord  declares that he will make a house for you—a dynasty of kings!  For when you die and are buried with your ancestors, I will raise up one of your descendants, your own offspring, and I will make his kingdom strong.  He is the one who will build a house—a temple—for my name. And I will secure his royal throne forever.  I will be his father, and he will be my son. If he sins, I will correct and discipline him with the rod, like any father would do.  But my favor will not be taken from him as I took it from Saul, whom I removed from your sight.  Then King David went in and sat before the L ord  and prayed, “Who am I, O Sovereign L ord , and what is my family, that you have brought me this far?  “What more can I say to you? You know what your servant is really like, Sovereign L ord .  Because of your promise and according to your will, you have done all these great things and have made them known to your servant. “How great you are, O Sovereign L ord ! There is no one like you. We have never even heard of another God like you! (2 Samuel 7:8-15, 18, 20-22 NLT)

Ecclesiastes 11:4, 8-10

Farmers who wait for perfect weather never plant. If they watch every cloud, they never harvest. When people live to be very old, let them rejoice in every day of life. But let them also remember there will be many dark days. Everything still to come is meaningless. Young people,  it’s wonderful to be young! Enjoy every minute of it. Do everything you want to do; take it all in. But remember that you must give an account to God for everything you do.  So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.

Ecclesiastes 12:11-14

The words of the wise are like cattle prods—painful but helpful. Their collected sayings are like a nail-studded stick with which a shepherd  drives the sheep. But, my child,  let me give you some further advice: Be careful, for writing books is endless, and much study wears you out. That’s the whole story. Here now is my final conclusion: Fear God and obey his commands, for this is everyone’s duty.  God will judge us for everything we do, including every secret thing, whether good or bad.
